This is the first in a series of articles about harpejji technique. One of the most thrilling aspects of taking up the harpejji is that it is mostly an unmapped territory. There are very few resources (as of early 2020), both printed and online, and nobody is going to tell you how and what you are supposed to play on such an instrument. However, this can also be daunting sometimes, and a little bit of input from others can be very helpful.

I’ve been toying with pyo for quite some time now, and I’ve been using it on stage for midi processing for a few months, but it was not until last week that I asked the python to actually deliver some sound on stage.

Les concerts de Carma cet été ont été marqués par l’introduction aux Chemins de Traverse d’un nouvel instrument: l’harpejji.
En mai à la Linux Audio Conference, j’ai présenté FooCoCo, un module python permettant d’utiliser le pédalier SoftStep. Mais pour moi un logiciel destiné à une utilisation live sur scène n’est pas crédible tant qu’il n’a pas été utilisé… en live sur scène!
